This is a mostly flat ride up to the City. We will follow the Waterlink way and the Q1 through to Southwark park and continue along the C4 up to London bridge. We will ride along Moorgate as far as Bunhill fields, which is an interesting park containing memorials to famous literary figures such as John Bunyan and William Blake. From there we will cycle along quiet streets to Look Mum No Hands! for a coffee stop. We will then make our way through the Barbican and Smithfield market area where we will visit the magnificent church of St Bartholomew the Great, the oldest parish church in London and which has a quite remarkable sculpture of St Bartholomew by Damien Hirst,
We will return by crossing Blackfriars bridge and following C14/C10 and Waterlink way back to Cator park. This is a ride for experienced cyclists. Although we ride on mostly quiet roads and traffic free paths, the roads in the City are busy and you must be confident about riding in traffic.
Please call the leader, Jacqui Turner on 07456840924, if you have booked but there are problems on the day.
