Broompark to Lanchester Winter Warmer Sun 20th January 2019 10.30am 14 miles Start at Broompark Picnic site DH7 7RJ
Keep on cycling through the winter and join us for a winter breeze along the Lanchester Valley Railway Paths to one of our favourite cafe stops, the Austrian coffee house 'Kaffee Amadeus' (Percy Terrace/Station Rd junction). The trip is suitable for moderately confident riders or if you're fairly new to cycling something to stretch yourself. At a comfortable pace, it is off road and as flat a ride as Durham gets. You'll be in the good company of other female cyclists while riding through Durham's attractive countryside.
The ride is best for hybrid bikes as it’s good quality off road. Please come prepared for winter weather with plenty of clothes including gloves and bring a spare inner tube for your tyres. Also make sure you’ve got front and back lights in case light conditions are poor. If the weather is poor we'll make any decision on what we’ll do by 8.30am on the morning and will only contact you if we are cancelling or changing our plan (not unknown for us to go for a walk when too icy to cycle). For any last minute cancellations on the day please text 07493808927 (note this phone is only for the day of the ride) otherwise use the option to cancel when you log in to letsride.co.uk.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be out for about 3 hours (including cafe stop) but as always it is difficult to be precise about timing.
