This route takes us out through Sankey Valley Park and out to meet the Transpennie Way. We head out towards Widnes and will cross the Silver Jubilee Bridge into Runcorn. We will pick up the Bridgewater canal heading back towards Preston Brook and take a break at Norton Priory for refreshments and natter. We continue along the canal back into Moore where we leave the canal and pick up the Transpennie Way and other parks to return to our starting point. This route is not very technical and is mostly flat, it is ideal for those that may want to push their distance and build confidence.

Please remember to bring face coverings and hand sanitiser. Please note that due to covid restrictions our cafe stop will be outside and we will split into two groups to ensure social distancing.

A route along the Transpennine trail to Widnes, crossing the Silver Jubilee Bridge and heading back along the Bridgewater Canal. We will be stopping along the way visiting the Historic Norton Priory. The route is ideal for those wanting a leisurely pace to increase their confidence and distance.

The route is mostly traffic free and with very little hill climbing. The surfaces are mostly gravel and tarmac, however the canal can be a little muddy in some places if there has been rain. We will only be using roads for short distances to get onto and off the Transpennie Way.

We are planning to stop and refuel at Norton Priory were we can catch up for a good natter. The route also offers lots of opportunity to take pictures.

Although this route is mainly off-road, it is advisable to wear a helmet. Please ensure your bikes are in good working order and that you bring along spare inner tubes and pump. You will also need any specialist tools that you may need for your bike and monies for the Cafe stop. I am unsure if cards are accepted at Norton Priory.

We especially welcome newbies!
