PR1 4LX

We set of from Frenchwood carpark and ride along a short stretch of residential road to join the Guildwheel cycle path. We turn right onto the path and head towards Tram bridge where we cross the River Ribble and join cycle route 55. We follow this path finally emerging at the roundabout on London way . Here we cross over to connect with the cycle path that takes us past Bamberbridge Football ground and on to Bamberbridge itself. We keep following the cycle route signs , crossing a busy junction using the cycle crossing provided. We then cycle on the path alongside Euxton Rd until the Cuerden valley car park is reached. The next section of the route is very scenic and will challenge us. It is an undulating cycle path that takes us through Ceurden valley park as far as the Mill ruins. Here we head out of the park to reach Buckshaw village where we follow great cycle paths all the way to Astley Hall. After some much needed refreshments we retrace our steps back to our starting point noting that some of the ascents are steeper than on the outward journey

We will aim for an average speed of 8-10 miles an hour

This is a challenging traffic free cycle route linking Avenham park and Ceurden valley park. Ideal for those wanting to extend their cycling without riding on the road.

The route is a traffic free route making use of Cycle route 55 and the cycle paths in Buckshaw Village. Hybrid and mountain bikes are best suited to this terrain and must be in a road worthy condition.

There is be a planned coffee stop at the café Ambrio In Astley park. However there will be plenty of opportunities to stop, catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.

Please bring some water and a snack and some money if you wish to purchase food and/or drink at the coffee stop. Be prepared for cold/warm/wet weather conditions. Riders are advised to wear a helmet and it is compulsory for those under 18 to wear a helmet. Prior to the start of the ride there will be a short bike check and safety brief but please make sure that your bike is in working order before joining the ride. Please carry a spare inner tube and tools necessary to carry out a puncture repair

This is a small friendly group of women who enjoy a gentle ride round the parks and cycleways in our area. We love to welcome new members and we never leave anyone behind.
