- This is a good opportunity for those of us living in urban areas to cycle out in the countryside on scenic quiet roads. Considering this is the famously hilly Chilterns, this is a fairly flat ride (ok if you’re from Hillingdon you might think it is hilly! – it’s all relative!). We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider and always wait so that no one is left behind.
- We will cycle mainly on quiet roads to the Wendover Woods café where the toilets are also open, via this route
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33462671- This is a nice late starting time to give you time to bring your bike on the tube to Amersham if you want to. You can take your bike anywhere on the Metropolitan Line off-peak Mon-Fri (peak hours are 7:30-9:30 and 16:00-19:00). For info see
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/cycling-in-london/bikes-on-public-transportThere is a Chiltern Railways train from Harrow on the Hill at 9:39 which arrives in Amersham at 10:02 then you can cycle easily to the start.
- Or it takes 30 mins to drive from most towns within Hillingdon borough. There is free parking in Glebe Way and the surrounding streets.
- If you want me to meet you at the underground station and cycle with you to the start, that is fine, message me on Wednesday and we will meet a little earlier.
- Please bring a pump, water, credit card and at least 1 spare inner tube. But don’t go overboard bringing heavy gear, as everything feels even heavier when cycling up those hills! I would prefer that you wear a helmet for your own safety.
- Please check your bike thoroughly before you come. Check your brakes are working well, your gears are smooth and your tyres are in good condition and pumped up – you can use this video.

https://youtu.be/u0dtGe-LrcQ- To keep everyone safe we will be using social distancing, riding single file and minimising personal contact. Please bring and use hand sanitiser; bring a face mask to wear while ordering in the café (we will eat outside).
- If you, or anyone in your household, are feeling at all unwell with possible symptoms of Covid-19 such as new persistent cough, high temperature, loss of sense of taste or smell, please cancel your place.
