Back to Breezing around Durham

Starting from County Hall Car Park, we will do a quick safety check before cycling down the cycle path to cross Milburngate Bridge and join the riverbanks cyclepath to Durham Old Gardens. From there we will cross the rickety bridge to Maiden Castle and then visit the Secret Garden Cafe (which may or may not be open) before heading up South Road to Teletubby Hill for fantastic views of Durham and surrounds. From there we will ride across to St Aidan's College for more great views before joining the Great North Cycle Path and returning to County Hall via North End. A great little route with lots of interest and photo opportunities all in the way around.

An introduction to our favourite route around Durham City, touring the riverbanks, Old Durham Gardens, Teletubby Hill, St Aidan's viewpoint and the Great North Cycle Route.

Mainly on cycle path with some short stretches on quiet roads. Suitable for most bikes (racing bikes not recommended)

We will aim to visit the Secret Garden Cafe for a takeaway coffee (please note this cannot be guaranteed as they have been closing early). Please do bring your own refreshments as well, just in case

We always recommend helmets, but it is not mandatory. In these Socially distanced times, we also recommend that you bring your own spare inner tube, pump and tyre levers as well as a lock and a waterproof light jacket. We also like buffs, as they can be used for face coverings, as well as keeping your neck warm/flies off. The Leaders will be carrying first aid equipment, hand sanitiser, gloves and sweeties.
