As the 1st August is officially Yorkshire Day our regular rider Julie suggested this route through the parks would be a fitting way to mark the occasion. We will head out towards Wakefield and travel through eight (arguably nine) different municipal parks, and encounter a fun descent as a bonus, before returning to Leggers. This ride does have a few uphill sections but nothing more demanding than we usually encounter during our Sunday morning rides.
We will travel along a combination of public roads and greenways. There will also be a few hundred metres of canal towpath. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on the public roads so riders need to be confident in those situations. Mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes should be ok on this ride.
We will call at Pugneys Country Park for a toilet break on the way out.
Helmets are mandatory on all Kirklees Riders outings. Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding. Regardless of the easing of Covid-related restrictions the simple rules we have adopted for our group rides will remain in place. Therefore please ensure you continue to bring the anti-bacterial agents necessary to keep both yourself and your fellow riders safe throughout the ride. If you or any members of your family are showing COVID 19 symptoms, or self-isolating, please stay at home. I would also remind you that this is not a guided ride and each participant remains responsible for their own actions or omissions at all times.
We never leave anyone behind
