A steady paced ride along the stunning steeply cut Afan Valley to Glyncorrwg Ponds cycling centre. But don't be put off by the thought of steep hills, as we follow the gradual incline of the disused railway track along the valley, that now forms part of the traffic free NCN 887.
A welcome refreshment stop at Glyncorrwg Ponds, before retracing our route for the return journey.
On our way out of Port Talbot we will make a detour to visit the grave of Dic Penderyn and the mural that has recently been created commemorating his life and death.

Our route follows National Cycle Route(NCR) 887 from Port Talbot along the steep sided Afan Valley to Glyncorrwg Biking Centre.

Apart from a couple of short stretches leaving the carpark where we start from and at Cwmafan, Pontrhydfen, Cymer and Glyncorrwg the route is traffic free along the NCR 887 shared path.

There are no planned stops other than a refreshment stop at Glyncorrwg; we will however stop as necessary to take a breather, and if anyone wants photos along the route.

Please wear helmets, have weather appropriate clothing and ensure that your bike is in good working order. It is always handy to carry a pump and spare inner tube/puncture repair kit. Please bring any refreshments you might need on route and money for refreshments when we stop. Additionally, because of Covid and to ensure that our rides are as safe as possible please note the following and take action where appropriate. 1. When booking your place on the ride, please ensure that you have completed all the contact details. We will need these should anyone who is on the ride subsequently become aware of Covid19 symptoms so that we can follow the guidelines in the ‘Trace, Test and Protect’ program. 2. Should you, or anyone in your household, become aware of Covid19 symptoms after booking, please cancel your place on the ride. Also, please do not book a place on the ride should you, or anyone in your household, be suffering from any of the following symptoms – New continuous cough High temperature Loss of, or change to, your normal sense of smell or taste (anosmia) 3. You will need to be self-sufficient on the ride i.e. please bring your own tubes, pump, tools, food and drink etc. as sharing raises the risk of spreading Covid19 4. Please bring hand sanitiser and gloves. 5. Before the ride we will need to confirm that since the time of booking you are not now suffering from any Covid19 symptoms. 6. If you experience symptoms after the ride, you should get a covid-19 test. If this is positive, you need to contact the ride leader as quickly as possible to enable the Track, Trace and Protect procedure.

We are a friendly bunch that particularly welcomes newcomers. We ride together as a group, so that nobody gets left behind.
