A Ribble Valley Circular

The Route Goes via Whalley, Great Mitton, climbing up to Cowark to descend to the Slaidburn road, crossing this to ascend around Easington fell to Tosside. Going around Easington fell avoids the very steep ascent out of Slaidburn. From Tosside is a descent to Grunsagill, then Gisburn. There is a short distance on the Burnley Road out of Gisburn before turning off to Rimington, Downham, Worston and Barrow, returning to Whalley and Billington.
This is a hilly ride with three significant ascents, but none of them are severe, and views excellent.

Mostly on minor roads and cycleways. Many are narrow. One short, unavoidable, section of busy road out of Gisburn.

We stop frequently to admire the views. Lunch can be taken at the excellent Old Vicarage Tea Rooms at Tosside. ***THE CAFE IS CASH ONLY***. Helmets are always advisable but NOT compulsory. Although we should be back before dark, please give consideration to emergency or daytime running lights Please bring the usual emergency tools and puncture repair equipment.
